World Voice Day

April 16th every year is World Voice Day – not a lot of people know this but if you have ever lost your voice, you will know the importance of taking care of it.

At work and at play our voices are a vital part of our communication with one another. However, many people do not take care of their voices and develop problems through smoking, drinking, shouting and poor vocal technique. Help is not always sought or advice taken and more significant problems can develop.

In order to address this situation and raise general awareness, a group of voice care professionals in Brazil decided to establish a special day to celebrate the human voice.

That was back in 1999 and since then voice professionals from the United States and Europe have joined in as well to make the World Voice Day we celebrate now.

It serves as an education campaign to inform the general public of the importance of the human voice and the need for preventative care.

So be aware! Take care of your voice!
